Travel to Poitiers
  • From abroad:
    • Flight to Paris CDG airport
    • Direct TGV train from "Paris-CDG TGV" to "Poitiers"
      • Best information: Deutsche Bahn
      • Booking: TGV Europe
      • Connections: 7:39-10:11; 9:12-11:32; 13:37-16:10; 16:36-19:02; 19:11-21:22
    • Direct return train
      • 08:19-10:53; 9:36-12:09; 12:51-15:21; 16:14-18:41; 18:33-21:12
    • Other trains via "Paris Montparnasse" are not recommendable. This requires longs walks and many staircases through the Paris catacombes (also known as subway). This is particularly disrecommended with heavy luggage and for French new-bees.
    • Trains via "Massy" require 5-10 minutes walk from the regional express train RER to the main train station.
    • If you are flying with Air France, you can buy the TGV ticket with your flight. This way a connecting flight or train is guaranteed by Air France, even in case of losing the planned connection by delays.
    • There are two other airports in Paris requiring a long commute via a bus. This is far less convenient than arriving in Paris CDG.
  • From Berlin:
    • Consider a train connection (workdays): 09:48-14:09 ICE Berlin->Koeln; 14:43-16:35 ICE -> Bruxelles-Midi; 17:15-18:35 Thalys ->Paris Nord; Taxi (25 min, 17 Euro) -> Paris Montparnasse; 19:45-21:18 TGV -> Poitiers.
    • Other train connections with a scheduled 12 min change of trains in Frankfurt or Mannheim have a 50% chance of failure due to typical ICE delays.
    • Return train: 09:50-11:35 TGV Poitiers->Paris M; taxi-> Paris Nord; 13:01-16:15 Thalys -> Koeln; 16:48-21:08 ICE -> Berlin
    • Typical flight-train connections from Berlin to Poitiers:
      • 09:55-11:40 Air France TXL->CDG; 13:37-16:02 TGV Aeroport Paris CDG -> Poitiers
      • 12:45-14:30 Air France TXL->CDG; 16:36-19:02 TGV Aeroport Paris CDG -> Poitiers
    • Typical train-flight connections from Poitiers to Berlin:
      • 08:20-10:53 TGV Poitiers -> CDG; 13:05-14:45 Air France CDG-> TXL
      • 09:36-12:09 TGV Poitiers -> CDG; 15:35-17:15 Air France CDG->TXL
  • From London:
    • Consider taking a Ryanair flight 11:55-14:25 from "London-Stansted (STN)" to "Poitiers-Biard (PIS)". You may feel like a cattle in a crowd, but it should be cheap and you land few meters from our offices. The return flight will be at 15:00-15:25 (always local time).
    • I prefer one of the many trains between "London St. Pancras International" and "Poitiers" with change of trains in Lille (5h 17min or a bit more).

Railroad station "Poitiers"
  • If we agree to meet at the railroad station, the typical meeting point is inside this station before the RELAY magazine shop. This magazine shop is in front of ticket center.
  • Taxis are available in front of the main entrance (facing the city and many hotels) or must be called (05 49 88 12 34).
  • Bus 2B is one of the many lines to the city center.
  • The city center can be reached in 15 minutes walk.

From the railroad station to the CEAT
  • Take a taxi (for approximately 7 Euro)
  • Take bus 8 towards "La Blaserie / La Chaume" and stop at "Bleriot" just after "Mont midi", the top of the montain. From there it is a 10 minute footwalk to CEAT. CEAT is few hundred meters away from the airport. Make sure that you have a good local map. The bus operates from about 7h to about 20h roughly 2 times per hour (Vitalis schedule).
  • You may consider renting a byke at "Velo'Cap" directly at the railroad station (just close to garage and the main bus station). Search in google for "velo cap poitiers". Opening times are Mo-Fr 8:30-12:00, 13:15-17:30. The monthly rent is 12 Euro. But Velo'Cap requires a 200 Euro check deposit as security.
